Origin of the Firefly

As the night sky glisten peacefully over the grassy glade
Several stars fell from the sky and as if they were seeds
They buried themselves into the earth's breast
Budding from the ground are seedlings
Lifting themselves from their earthen womb
They twist and curl as they reached toward the star lit heavens
The sprouting fingers suddenly swelled as their cores begin to Illuminate from within the delicate flowers that will soon bloom
The bulbs then burst open with no hesitation
Lifting their pale faces to the welcoming sky
Of their now creation

It looks nothing more than an insect
But look and watch as it joins it's brothers in the glittering glade
They glow as bright as the stars above and
Instead of flying they drift as they float in the night's breeze
They shimmer and sparkle as do their brothers
Who remain high in their heavenly abode

Now when nights are dark and dreary
The Fireflies burn brightly and be as though they are
Stars of the meadows and the forests
Lakes and rivers
Forever sparkling for the glade from which they came
They shall burn for you when you feel hopeless
Giving back what you may have lost
